Denton Certified iSWM Silver
In the winter of 2016, the City of Denton was awarded the silver iSWM designation! On February 1st, 2016, the North Central Texas Council of Governments presented the Denton city council with a plaque and street sign designating their iSWM status.
Some of the iSWM outcomes the City of Denton has focused on and implemented include:
- implementing downstream assessments at the begining of the development process to prevent downstream flooding and erosion,
- improving the quality of drainage facilities by requiring fully-developed land use conditions,
- and providing flood mitigation design options to maintain pre-development peak discharge conditions.
Congratulations Denton for all the great work you are doing to improve drainage facilities, protect streambanks, and mitigate the risk of flooding!
